Over 10 years ago, Susan decided that the Isleworth War Memorial should be brought back into people’s consciousness and that the way to do it was to research every name on the memorial (390 of them!) and publish the results. The project grew, with Susan as the driving force behind it. She brought together a group of volunteer researchers, spent hours applying for grants to help publish the book and set up a website, used her experience to create a KS 2 learning unit for local schools, and worked tirelessly organising events to publicise the project. Having achieved that by the watershed date of 2018 , she then expanded the project to achieve the refurbishment and rededication of the memorial itself in 2022. None of it would have happened without her.
